Rolling Toomer’s Corner’s mighty oak trees has become a tradition for Auburn fans through the years. However, those trees are poisoned, and the person who poisoned them has been arrested.

A lot of people have placed the blame on the Auburn-Alabama rivalry. The news media has reported on it extensively.

I am an Alabama fan–always have been, always will be. However, I must say that for someone to deliberately poison trees, or damage anything that is not theirs, is wrong. The Bible tells us to love our neighbors as we would love ourselves.

Auburn may end up saving the trees, but even if not, a lesson has been learned. We should never damage something that is not ours, and should respect all those around us, even if they believe differently than us.
