Snow and Ice in the Valley

I am writing this from very cold Huntsville, AL. Thursday morning, January 7th, we woke up to the sounds of salt trucks preparing for a rare Alabama snow. By the end of the day, we had over an inch of snow on the ground, roads and bridges were closed, and there were more wrecked cars on the road than one would find at a demolition derby. Over the weekend, we had some record lows, including single digit temperatures Saturday (January 9th) and Sunday (January 10th). We are now back to normal, but we will need some time to thaw out from this storm. Winter storms are rare, but can cause many problems for our area when we do have them. I can’t wait for Spring to arrive!
