Last week, a train derailed close to downtown Huntsville on tracks parallel to I-565 at the Triana Blvd overpass. Nine cars derailed, six of those empty and three with paper products. There was no one injured, and the tracks were repaired later the same day that the train derailed. Local residents living next to railroad tracks were inquiring about what type of plans were in place should the next derailment (if there is one) be worse than this one. Since lightning does not strike the same place twice, I would seriously doubt us having another derailment in that same area. However, I have faith in our local officials that they will know what to do to protect citizens should there ever be a threat to them from a derailment or any other disaster.
