Washington Metro Rail Disaster

Rush hour on a very busy stretch of commuter rail can be stressful. However, when anti-crash systems fail, there is almost a guarantee that disaster can strike. And disaster did strike, on a Monday evening late last month in Washington, D.C. A train crashed into the rear of another train, killing the conductor as well as several passengers. There were also many passengers injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this disaster. May God bless you all.

As for the automated systems governing traffic and other vital systems, there will always be a chance, no matter how small, of failure of those systems, resulting in catastropic results. It is a true characteristic of life that things are not perfect, and never will be. But, we just have to be prepared for anything that happens.
