In late May, a six year old boy who had just finished his last day of Kindergarten went to a birthday party for one of his classmates which was being held at the Decatur Country Club. While at that party, he drowned in the club pool and died. Our hearts are saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family members affected by this tragic loss.
As I am a parent myself, I also want to state that all of us as parets should ensure that no matter where our kids are, they need to know how to be safe around the water. The Red Cross teaches water safety and learn-to-swim classes for children of all ages–we need to utilize those classes. Also, when we are around children, we should always be ever watching in order to step in and help out to avoid tragic events. Of course, we should always watch our children, but we should also, as parents, be ready to help in a moment of crisis for another person’s child, in order to save their life.
Decatur, Alabama, our prayers are with you and the family of the little boy that drowned. May God bless you as you go through this difficult time.
